Help me give my students the little things. Having beautiful instruments is the big ticket item...but it's the little items like strings and slip stop rock stops that add up!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Orchestra students at our middle school are extremely hard workers. Through generous grants and donations they have been able to begin taking private lessons and achieve a high level of playing that furthers their ability and drive to continue perfecting their instrument.
We are a Title I school with 88% of students on free and reduced lunch.
Orchestra students have been given the privilege to take private lessons and have risen to the occasion. Students are practicing more, auditioning for outside orchestras and camps and playing more difficult music.
My Project
This project is to help reduce the cost of miscellaneous materials students need to work productively in orchestra.
We have over 120 students in orchestra this year and 4 strings on each instrument... that's a lot of strings!
Sometimes they break, but most often the strings have been on the instrument for a period of time and they are no longer good. Having old strings presents problems with playing in tune and having a strong tone. With all instruments having fresh strings all students can feel successful!
The cellists in our group also need slip stop rock stops to prevent their cellos from sliding around on the ground.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
