This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a Spanish teacher in two public schools at Paterson, NJ. I have a total of 480 students ranging from kindergarten through 5th grade in one school and 6th grade through 8th grade in another school.
Many of my students do not have access to technology at home, but with your help, my students will have the opportunity to be well prepared for this new century.
My students are very capable of using technology and are in fact more comfortable with using it to learn. They are very understanding when it comes to learning and by combining their ability to learn and technology, I believe they could become excellent Spanish speakers. This helps broaden their knowledge and open up more opportunities for them.
My Project
The tablets that I recently gained through the support of DonorsChoose are working great in my classroom. My students love the new additions and are excited to learn more through the use of technology. However, I now need some extra equipment to help solidify their learning experience. I need headphones, so that students can listen to certain lessons that would be difficult to achieve with the speakers. I need cases for my tablets since a lot of students will be using the tablets across multiple classrooms and I need to preserve them. And lastly, I need a charging station so that I can charge multiple tablets at a time so that no student gets left behind because of a dead tablet.
With the addition of these accessories I will be able to further increase classroom productivity and safety by enhancing and protecting the use of equipment.
I teach elementary and middle school students who don't usually carry headphones so this will help those who usually don't have that experience. This will also help teach Spanish since they will be able to clearly hear the pronunciations. In general, I need these accessories to help enhance my classroom environment.
