It's Sensory Season Superstars

My students need sensory and motor support in the classroom environment to be able to function comfortably.

My Students

As a teacher, I am fortunate to have a classroom full of superstars. For the majority of my students, their personal situations are not always as bright as their smiles. Many of the students come from low income households. This demographic of students lack experiences such as going out of the country or even riding a train. With that being said, the situations these students face does not define who they are or where they are going.

With the right tools and support, the sky is the limit for these superstars.

This year these students have such a genuine love for learning it roars through their voices as they chant different phonics songs in the morning. Having a classroom environment that is welcoming and refreshing gives these students HOPE!

My Project

The students that are served in this classroom have a set of needs that requires a different approach. The majority of the students in the class struggle with staying seated and calming themselves down when upset. The weighted lap pad and stuffed animals are an easy and calming way to give the student support with staying grounded.

Meeting each child's individual needs can be overwhelming but with the right tools it’s manageable.

The fine motor kit is perfect for students who struggle with cutting with scissors or holding a pencil the correct way. The putty is also a great fine motor activity that will strengthen the muscles in the student’s hand for manipulation of other objects. Lastly, the fidgets are perfect for students who struggle with keeping their hands quite on the carpet.
