This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In our class, we strive to be well-rounded individuals who can produce collaborative work. The students are hard-working, often times taking their lunch time and after-school time to come into the class and continue to drill on their works-in-progress.
What amazes me about these students is how they can jump into their work on their own.
They find ways to communicate with each other in respectful ways, to provide constructive feedback, and diligently work together.
Despite the many obstacles my students face, they look forward to coming in and getting their work done.
My Project
Theory music books such as the "Excellence in Theory" books are not usually included in our catalog of book orders when our school makes their annual book purchases.
Since our department has to wade through some murky funding waters, I try my best to provide theory worksheets that I feel are adequate and helpful.
This year, I felt that I needed a little more guidance in helping students with these concepts. By getting these materials, my students would have a variety of ways to learn theory and how to read music.
The accessories will help my students with concert performances and daily upkeep. For example, learning how to transition from bowing to plucking (bass quiver) or with strumming guitars during mariachi sectionals (guitar straps).
