Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Science is magic. When my students see things change, react or develop, they become curious about their world and the science principles.
A snapshot of our middle school shows a diverse high-need school comprised of about 1,100 students in grades six to eight.
Over half of our student population receives free or reduced priced lunch. Approximately half of our students receive support services in addition to their core classes. Many of our students are not native English speakers.
My Project
I am requesting some pretty fascinating science props that are excellent for demonstrations. The storm stick, globe and swan barometers and weather stick each "predict" changes in weather and moisture in the air. The students will be able to compare and contrast, plot and record the predicted weather using each tool. I have included food coloring to make it easier to see and read the results of each barometer.
The radiometer will show the power of the sun and energy conversion. The mood mouse pad will show heat conversion by changing color as the students touch it.
The helix is a metal slinky spring that stretches for demonstrating wave forms. The wave paperweight will also provide a visual for wave movement.
These science props including motion and weather experiments that will get the children to open up their minds to the magic of science and the impact scientists could have on our lives.
Help my students discover science with these new science tools.
