It's No Tickle-Me-Elmo, But We'd Be Tickled To Have One!

As any middle school student will secretly admit, nothing beats receiving positive recognition from a teacher in front of one's peers. My 7th grade Language Arts and World History students are wonderful assets to their public, tuition-free charter school. Although many come from difficult home and community situations, when they enter the classroom they work hard, try their best, and are eager to please. My students know that they need to put forth a strong effort to ensure that their futures are bright, and they deserve the best opportunities to achieve their goals.

A document camera in the classroom would truly have a positive impact on my students' learning, especially for those with special needs who require assistive technology. Do you remember, as a student, ever feeling confused about where on your worksheet you were supposed label this or write that? Did you ever just need to see an example of what the teacher was asking before you could tackle the assignment?

With an ELMO document camera, I would be able to easily display colored pictures of maps, exemplary student work, picture books as I read aloud, sample responses to essay questions, and much more. All of my students would benefit from the visual presentations that a document camera could provide.

Your donation would really help to ensure that each student in my classroom has the best opportunity to learn. You will make it possible for the students' comprehension of subject area content to improve. You will also help the students to develop a growing sense of pride in their work as it is shared with their classmates! Your help would be greatly appreciated.
