My Students
My students bring my classroom alive! Their love of learning and curiosity is why I love my job! I've created an environment in my classroom where my students feel safe and nurtured.
If you were to walk into my classroom, you would feel as if you were walking into our home, and you would see that we are more of a big family than a class.
My class consists of 12 eager-to-learn second graders in a rural district. Our room is full of readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and dreamers. I am always encouraging my students to get up and get learning in their home-like classroom. There is truly nothing better than watching my students engage in active learning together.
My Project
My students practice yoga in our classroom because of the benefits that yoga practice has been proven to provide. The research shows that yoga reduces anxiety and stress and promotes thinking and memory. We will use the 20 yoga mats at least 20 minutes a day during our yoga practice.
The mindfulness of yoga teaches an awareness of the body through deep breathing and teaches children to focus on their academics.
Yoga will help the students to clear and calm their minds so they can increase concentration. Yoga is a great practice to balance energy and build confidence.
Yoga practice in the classroom does not stop there. By having my students practice the mindful art of yoga in the classroom, I am encouraging the students to lead a fit and healthy lifestyle. The benefits to yoga in the classroom are endless!
