Help me give my students magnetic tiles that will enhance understanding of geometric solids, and other materials to further engagement and encourage enrichment.
Students in my school come from three distinct and diverse neighborhoods from just outside of Pittsburgh. Many of these students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Though many students face a far-from-perfect home life, they bring their energy and their hard work into my math classroom daily. Students in my math classroom work tirelessly to master the material while facing the challenges of middle school and standardized tests.
Students are engaged each day with authentic activities, exposure to new technology and many other experiences to make math more "real" for 21st-century learners.
My Project
Math class -- rarely students' favorite class of the day. In my classroom, students and teachers work endlessly to make math accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Together, we have created so many exciting opportunities in math, and we're looking to create more!
The requested materials will allow this year's math students to engage in math like never before!
I've requested magnetic tiles to help students in understanding in both two- and three-dimensional figures, as well as to provide an opportunity for students to create their own figures. Dry-erase materials keep students engaged in so many ways throughout the school year. Spinners and dice will enhance some of the math games we've created over the past few years, and Kanoodle and Tegu provide enrichment for students who finish early, while encouraging students to continue to think.
