Our students come from very diverse backgrounds. Blue collar, white collar... farmers and CEOs... our community hosts a wide range of experiences and incomes. Located in a township without a post office, our school struggles to make ends meet at times. We aren't Title I, but could be. We have a very strong community presence in our school, which helps, but constant budget cuts mean less money.
Even with these obstacles, our community is eager to see their children achieve a higher level of academic success than previous generations.
In today's world, being literate in technology is an essential skill. We hope to prepare and enrich our students for such a tech-based world.
My Project
My students recently had an author Skype with author, Stacy McAnulty, and fell in love with her books. They were very excited and interested in the Goldi Blox series and The Dino Files series, as well as other titles by the author.
The students loved Stacy McAnulty's books so much they were begging for the next book in the series!
The books in this project will continue to propel them into reading for pleasure, and give them a voice in creating the library collection. The books will be added to the library collection so that students from Kindergarten all the way through fifth grade will have access to these wonderful books that keep my students asking for MORE!
