I am an English teacher for Heide Trask HS in rural Pender County, North Carolina. We currently have 51% of our students receiving free lunch and 6.75% are English Limited. Being a poor county, with an increasing population, our funds are extremely limited. In addition, we have a very diverse social and economic pool of students. Many of my students learn visually, and I would like to diversify my lessons to include those visual learners. Due to limited funds, I am unable to purchase many of the videos I need to enhance my literature lessons. As my students are so visual, they need to be able to see the literature come to life as we read. Therefore, I am asking donors to assist me in the acquisition of several videos to help with our units in World Literature. Students will have projects due at the end of our studies of each unit of World Literature. If they have not understood the basic stories, they cannot be successful with the completion of their projects. Being able to visualize their reading is vital to success with these units of study. Please assist my students with their study of CYRANO and ancient Greek Drama by providing them the opportunity to watch the actual stage production of "Cyrano," an overview of Greek drama and a modernized version of "The Odyssey" entitled "O Brother Where Art Thou."
