My students are creative, hard-working, and strive to be their best selves at school. I teach at a school with high poverty levels where 81.4% of students receive free or reduced-rate lunch students. We are culturally diverse and have had a Dual-Language Immersion program since 2007. In grades, kindergarten through second grade, students have the option to learn in an environment where 50% of classroom instruction is taught in Spanish and 50% in English. Dual Language Immersion (DLI) teachers practice language separation to support language development goals. Standards-based academic content in both Spanish and English is taught and assessed in two languages throughout the school year.
As a teacher, I can't control what happens when students go home but as a school, we can ensure safety and a sense of belonging within the school walls.
Thank you for your support in making a difference!
Over the past year, I've noticed more and more children playing soccer at our school. In fact, soccer has become so popular that our school has started its first club sport in years- a fusball team. The children play soccer with any soccer ball they can find at school or from home and teach each other the rules and tricks of the game. Currently, the students are playing soccer with two trash cans as one goal and the other goal is imaginary.
With two soccer goals, the fusball soccer team can practice teamwork and coordination.
These soccer goals are sturdy and are safe enough to use outdoors or indoors when needed.
