My Students
My students are creative, curious, and above all are ready for the future! They have connected with many classrooms from around the world and are empathetic to some of the world's problems that still need to be solved. Our most recent connection was with a classroom in Puerto Rico and they heard first-hand about the devastation and destruction caused by Hurricane Maria.
My students are creative and critical thinkers and not only think outside the box, but they are willing to change the box!
This year, students use our new Innovation Lab to build and design prototypes. They are encouraged to think like real engineers, innovators, and makers and use the design process to guide them.
My Project
In grades 1 - 4, students create new inventions or design prototypes using Strawbees. The design process teaches students to emphasize who they are designing their invention for, define the problem, ideate possible solutions, build a prototype, gather feedback, and last of all SHARE WITH THE WORLD!
My students need these quirkbots to put their designs into action.
They can code quirkbots to take their projects to the next level! It would be amazing to show students how their inventions can come to life by using the Quirkbots. Quirkbots work hand in hand with Strawbees (Straws and connectors) to make cool projects that stretch anyone's imagination. With Quirkbots, students can add light, motion, sound, and other effects to their projects. We use Strawbees all the time with STEAM and project-based learning. Quickbots would allow students to learn and understand coding in an authentic way by changing the creation that each student made with their own hands!
