Hello! We work in Sonoma County at a Title 1 school. We have a wide variety of students with varied backgrounds. Over half our students are low socioeconomic status. Recently our community had a terrible event, we evacuated for three weeks, for the Tubbs fire. Many of our students lost their homes and our school was the only thing left.
We want to give our students a safe, welcoming, and engaging place for them to learn while they play.
We have found that art and hands on materials like Makers projects really help children thrive.
I love to teach this precious age group. The kids want to learn and when you create the environment as play with art, building, and engaging materials they thrive!
My Project
We need art supplies, STEM materials, thematic readers; to have more engaging opportunities for all learners in order for them to access our curriculum. In Kindergarten, we use a lot of art supplies and hands on materials that get used up quickly. It would feel great to know we have plenty of blue paint for all the kiddos!
Our learners are so creative and enthusiastic we need to give them the best materials to enrich their minds.
This is a basic necessity for our students but such an important one. By giving them paints and art materials students can make kintetic and fine motor connections to the all subject areas. By getting art supplies and other materials our students will have a better growth mindset. We hope that in getting these supplies for the classroom we will be able to source funds elsewhere to support all of their learning environments. Students will be able to use the learning objectives below to better make sense of the units being taught.

Add drawings or other visual displays to descriptions as desired to provide additional detail.
Along side the art supplies we will be receiving STEM (science technology engineering math) supplies, Lego plates, and kinetics to engage the students in our new engineering NGS standards. The nonfiction time magazines will be a wonderful addition to our language art program. The students will read and explore about the world around them.
By receiving these art supplies, STEM materials, and thematic readers we will grow as a classroom and continue our goal of being life long learners.
We are excited to start the new school year with new materials to engage and enrich all of our diverse students.
