This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from all walks of life financially, various backgrounds, races, and ethnicities. They vary in academic ability--from self motivated, high ability students to reluctant and struggling readers and writers. We are a Title I school in a small rural community serving more than 400 students. Our school offers free breakfast and lunch to ALL of our students. In spite of my students' differences, many of them share a love of learning and want to be successful, academically and personally!
My Project
I would like to experience for the first time the elementary educators' conference to reignite my teaching passion and practice and network with other elementary educators. This three day conference will allow me to learn from some of the best educators in the profession and in my state. I will learn best instructional practices, including creating engaging hands on learning and the incorporation of multiple intelligences, to ensure that my students will grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, and critical thinkers. I will also attend sessions that will empower and recharge me so that I am at my best when teaching my students!
