It's Electric! Coding, Robotics, and Circuits for Elementary Students

My Students

Our elementary school students are smart, funny, and creative. They love hands-on learning that engages the heart and the mind. In science, they enjoy STEAM activities that include science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. They also love opportunities to collaborate and share ideas. My goal as the STEAM lab educator is to develop creativity, innovation, and critical thinking skills in every student. Through an integrated STEAM curriculum, our students will learn the skills they need to become innovators and future changemakers. Please consider donating to our elementary school science program.

My Project

This project will provide Snap Circuits, magnets, and an Ozobot for our elementary science students. Hands-on learning is at the heart of science education and embedded in every aspect of our learning in the STEAM Lab. The Snap Circuits engage students in basic engineering, electronics, and circuitry concepts through the use of building components that snap together. Each kit includes multiple ways for students to explore wind energy, solar energy, electrical energy, and circuits. Students can follow a guided set of steps or they can create circuitry using their imagination and creativity. Ozobots are hand-held robots that students can use to learn block coding. The wonderful thing about Ozobots is they can be used both with and without technology. Students can learn to code using Ozoblockly, an online program, or they can use colored markers to create their own code. The Picasso Tiles allow students to learn about forces and magnets while developing their creativity and imagination. The materials in this project are 100% hands-on learning! They are safe and give young learners the opportunity to design, create, and innovate as they learn about science.
