Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We began to convert one of the areas in our classroom into a calming corner. In the specialized setting that we work in, my students rely on the ability to find calm, safe, and quiet spaces to regulate their breathing and their emotions. We have started the process and need some more tools to finish our calming space.
To stay comfortable and safe, having a soft area to lay on is beneficial to my students well-being.
Our calm corner is coming together, but we need more carpet tiles to soften up the entire floor. With that, we are wanting to add a shelf system so that we can store our weighted blankets. The timers in our project allow for us to monitor our time in the area and to set specific timers for calming our bodies. The tools and items listed in the project will help us work on being calm and successful in our classroom.
