Help me give my students the opportunity to learn through project-based learning. The materials will empower students to have access to Music and STEAM projects: A key tool in creative writing for the Sciences and the Arts.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The buzz ...is reading, science, and writing in my classroom. I am confident that my students in third grade would keep a love of literacy through multimedia classroom resources. I would like to accelerate their engagement in a mobile classroom arrangement.
An inviting, cutting-edge classroom will support my students’ needs through an integrated curriculum with special attention given to STEAM: The Art of Science!
My pupils come with different ability levels and talents. They organize their projects, have easy access for work-in progress, and interact effectively with their peers on thematic units. They best enjoy the collaboration aspects of teaching and learning new concepts when they are given quick access to the tools necessary to gain immediate feedback. They are in need of technology: Laptops!
Each year, I get inspired by my students’ curiosity and their ability to improvise. My hope is to design an innovative learning environment, and encourage flexibility through active participation. When Music, Writing, Social Sciences, and the Arts are integrated; kids learn best!
My Project
A cutting-edge classroom will positively impact my students’ mental and emotional well-being. Giving my students the time to think critically and to collaborate effectively is imperative. They will learn to interact and to communicate more, and have a better visual experience of learning concepts. I will increase engagement through SWAY PowerPoint presentation, and Poetry read-alouds. The electronic devices will encourage collaboration throughout the day. The laptops and book bins will help to organize picture books or novels by lexile level for differentiated learning in small group projects. Students will benefit from the resources requested because they become active participants. With the selection of classroom leveled books, they will gain immediate grade-level access. In addition, a new classroom laptop will supplement and aid with relevant research development for project-based learning. Through adequate exploration, my students will become cognizant of their strengths and weaknesses. I will encourage my third graders to learn about poetry at various reading levels and stimulate engagement and empowerment with music played from classroom laptops. Additionally, the art boxes will contain art supplies (paint tubes, brushes, crayons, cut-outs, recycled materials...) to help students discover a creative method to reading/writing/drawing. They will draw to communicate ideas, learn about tone and mood with the use of color symbolism, ultimately, ‘The Art of Communication’. The laptop, book bins, and art supply cases will be used around the classroom or outdoors as needed. Finally, students secure projects in their filing storages. The whole language approach through STEAM incorporated lessons will spark a love of learning in my students. It’s all about the STEAM!
