My Students
I teach 6th graders at a rural elementary school that has students from all backgrounds. One of the classes I teach is a technology elective classes that focus on media, broadcasting and journalism. The majority of my students are from low-income households and some from very diverse backgrounds. My students love technology and being creative. However, many of these students do not have access to technology outside of school. I try to make opportunities for these students to create projects based on real-world careers in technology and media.
My Project
Looking to the future is always exciting, yet challenging. It is my hope to inspire my middle school students to 'think outside of the box' when considering a career path. Giving low-income students access to new technology is an investment in their future, as well as ours.
I feel that it is our duty to give these students opportunities to experience and explore the technology of today and tomorrow.
My focus for this project is to provide my video production students with high quality positive learning opportunities using this new technology. Our community is agriculturally based. Drones are playing a huge roll in agriculture today. Giving my students this opportunity with a Phantom 3 Professional drone will open doors that we didn't even dream were available.
