This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students push through and achieve - all while smiling! Publishing a student-led yearbook is no small task, but my students rose to the challenge. Last year my program was all first-year students learning how to use digital SLR cameras as well as digital design. However, we didn't have enough equipment to go around! Our cameras worked, but we didn't have enough memory cards or card readers to make the process easy. We currently only have one card reader for the entire program.

By having enough memory cards, students will be able to cover multiple events or cover different aspects of the same event, which is something we struggle to do.

Once students have taken the pictures, we need a seamless way to get the images into our computers to start the editing and design process. This equipment will enable students to improve their photography and digital design skills and it will empower students to take the lead rather than waiting for free equipment.

Having access to the resources students need to do an effective job instills confidence, pride and leadership skills. When students have the tools they need, they are more engaged in the process, which not only fosters their learning but the product itself. Yearbooks bring the campus together and build a strong school and community pride. Please help my students build their skills while creating lasting memories for their peers and beyond.
