My Students
Take a moment to think about your kindergarten experience. Did you just get a feeling of nostalgia, too? Kindergarten was an amazing and fun time that taught you the foundations of reading, writing, and math. The experience you had in kindergarten is happening in our class everyday! We are learning so much, and we are having a great time, too!
The children I teach are energetic, wonderful, hardworking students.
They impress me everyday with their awesome attitudes because many of them face challenges in their lives that many of us have not experienced. We are a full day kindergarten class at a Title 1 school. Our school is located in a high poverty urban area. All of our students are entitled to the free lunch program. The student population is 85% Hispanic, 7% African American, 3% Caucasian, and 2% Asian.
My Project
SDE national conference offers an amazing conference every year in Las Vegas, NV. The conference known as I Teach K! is one of the most important conferences that is offered to kindergarten teachers. During the conference we learn valuable information such as developmentally appropriate practices to build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and math. We learn current and cutting edge strategies to effectively integrate technology into our classroom, and how to instill a love of learning through inquiry-based instruction in a collaborative, child-centered environment.
I have had the opportunity to attend the conference in 2016 and 2017.
I took so many great ideas from the presenters, and have seen major growth in my students. Our guided reading, writing, and math is amazing! I hope to have another opportunity to attend this conference so I can have a successful 2018-2019 school year! Thank you.
