This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Research is finding what teachers already know to be true; students need to hold books and read print for deep, meaningful learning. This project will enable my students to read a Sherlock Holmes mystery in class. I am asking for one class set, which we will use in multiple classes.

Mysteries are the preferred genre of many of my students.

Although only a few students say that they like to read, I believe it is because they have not found the right book, yet. I believe a Sherlock Holmes mystery will engage students, motivate them to read (at least until they find out who done it), and allow for some fun classroom activities.
