My Project
My students are very hands on and love anything that requires them to build, draw, or create. To my surprise, they are still very much excited about crafting with pipe cleaners. Once their creative minds are in action, the sky is the limit. This is easily one of my favorite characteristics of all of them!
This is a two-fold project that centers around my student's creativity!
The pipe cleaners will be used to create a zoo, cars, bracelets, and more. Some students would like to have a competition, so the labels and pens will come in handy for labeling. The pens will also be used to annotate when students are in their ELA classes. As for the tape, if they know, like I know, the pipe cleaners aren't too secure. In the event that reinforcements are required, we will have them covered.
Included in this project are LEGO sets that students can work on throughout the week should they complete their work in time. Students love LEGOS, and as opposed to having multiple legos in a bin, these will be purposeful in that all of them can be used for one activity. I'm trying something new with the LEGO Sets. By having some of their favorite characters to design, I'm hoping to also engage them in multi-step directions. Then, they will be able to take it home and showcase their creation to their families.
