Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a drama teacher at a middle school in Astoria, NY, and we are putting on a phenomenal production of "Annie!" Well, it will be phenomenal, as long as we have the correct supplies. We are in dire need of basically everything you can think of in order to design and build sets, costumes, and props. This is the first time that this school has put on a musical production in over twenty years, and thus we are forced to begin this project with nothing but talent, enthusiasm, and motivation! I am teaching my students the value of technical theatre, and that you don't have to have a Broadway budget to put on a fantastic show. You just have to have basic materials and a creative imagination! We have the imagination and creativity, we are just lacking the correct materials to help turn our dreams into a reality! Not only do the students of the production need these materials to help complete their character and make their experience terrific, but my 300 students in my drama classes will undoubtedly benefit from this donation as well. My students are helping to design and make all of the technical elements of the show...it truly is a school-wide effort! There will not be a student whose life you won't be benefiting from donating to this cause...from the actors, to the backstage helpers, to their peers and family members who will be in the audience cheering them on...Your thoughtfullness will be appreciated by all those involved with the production. On behalf of my students and the cast of "Annie," we sincerely thank you for your support.
