This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Can you imagine learning with visual impairments and only having black and white worksheets and books to learn from and with?
My students are an enthusiastic bunch.
They love learning, checking out books, using the computer, and especially playing learning games. They are in a Special Day Class and try not to let their disabilities get in their way. Although their disabilities vary from Autism to Orthopedic Impairments, one that most have in common are visual processing deficits.
My Project
Color copies will make a huge difference on how my students learn. Aside from being visually stimulating, I will be able to utilize many techniques to enhance their curriculum. I will be able to highlight words and phrases from passages, color code spelling patterns, and print out math manipulative in color such as fractions bars so they can easily differentiate sizes.
Having a color printer in my classroom will be a wonderful way to accommodate my students' needs.
Seeing homework and other resources and templates in color will not only be fun for them but will make a difference in how they learn. Being able to manipulate color on various worksheets can help me differentiate and target on students' specific needs.
