"It's a beautiful day for learning!" is what we say as we enter our classroom each morning.
I teach in a special education self-contained classroom.
My students have varying disabilities but also many wonderful abilities. They come to school each day excited and ready to learn. Our school is located on Staten Island. The students come from varying backgrounds.
My Project
My students will use the listening center and books on CD during English Language Arts station time. Many of my students struggle with reading fluency and comprehension. Listening to books on CD will help them improve both their reading fluency and comprehension. It will also give them full access to the curriculum. They will be able to listen to books that they might not yet be able to read on their own.
My students will improve both their fluency and reading comprehension by using the listening center.
They will get to listen to wonderful stories and informational text read aloud to them. Listening to fluent readers is a great way to increase ones fluency. They will be learning and having fun at the same time.
