Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

If there is one thing we have always tried to do as a school, it has been to listen to our students. By doing so we have created numerous courses, clubs, and activities here throughout the school year. However, one thing that seems to have escaped us, is the creation of some kind of technology based club. We are an alternative high School. Our student population is predominantly black and brown and still to this day "Black and Hispanic workers remain underrepresented in STEM jobs." (sciencenews.org) However, there as recently been a growing demand in our school for a 3D printing program of some sorts. So here I am, ready to start our official 3D Printing Club. But to do so, we need some (expensive)equipment.

Our students share their birthdays with things like iPads, Ring cameras, and 3D Printing!

Technological savviness is soon to be right up there with Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. Gen Alpha is ready ; we need to get them their tools! 3D printing can provide hands on learning which can improve student engagement. It will give our students professional skills so that they are prepared for the careers of tomorrow. It can empower our students creativity, and it is so versatile that it can be used across disciplines.

While this project specifically ask for the laptop, the full project is in 4 parts. In total we would like 2 3D printers and 2 laptops needed to connect and use with the printing software. Thank you to the DonorsChoose community for taking the time out to help.
