In this world of technology children need to be dazzled! They need to have access to technology based learning even at the tender age of 5. When children play to learn they retain the information.
My students are average kindergarten children who are so very curious about the world around them.
They are eager to learn in any way, shape or form. They are curious about the world and how things work. They are active little minds just waiting to absorb new knowledge. My students are tech savvy and need to be challenged during their independent center time through the use of learning technology.
My Project
I am requesting 2 iPod Touch systems for use in my classroom during independent centers. The students will have access to hundreds of educational applications that will assist in their learning through game play. They will be able to play a variety of games from simple identification of letters and numbers to reading words and beginning addition and subtraction. Through these games my students will be having fun and they will be learning at the same time.
Kindergarten aged children learn so much through play without realizing they are even learning.
Learning through play is so vital to this age group in that they retain more when they learn through play. For children these days, that play includes learning technology and placing these systems in the hands of my students would increase their engagement in learning!
