I work in a school that is considered a "High Needs, Title One" school. It is a low-income/high poverty school. My students are faced with numerous challenges every single day. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with hands-on, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are clever, energetic, and eager learners.
They like to move and they love lots of positive attention. Many are being raised by single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the moment I met them, I have focused on building a relationship with each one of them and stress to them how much potential they have. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can control their experience at school. The students inspire me to continually seek after quality resources that will provide them with the best education possible for the year they are with me, which is why I would love to add this technology to our classroom.
My Project
Adding new iPad minis to our classroom would provide countless learning applications and opportunities to my young students' lives. We live in a technology world and I want to provide my students' with hands-on learning options through technology. I plan on having a technology iPad center during our centers.
The students will play designated learning apps to enhance their learning.
These apps will help them practice and apply new skills in learning our objectives.
The Apple app store is constantly adding new learning games that are on point for any learning objectives that we need to review and practice. The students are SO engaged when using technology.
The addition of these iPads to the classroom will provide my students with numerous opportunities to learn how to read and do math in a way that is up to date with current technology and exciting for the students. So many of my students never get to experience any type of technology at home due to poverty situations. With your help, you can change their experiences with technology and education while they are at school. Giving to this project would mean SO much to my students.
