This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

High school theatre is the perfect playground for young minds to grow and explore through self expression. Being a first year teacher with experience in local community theater, I've been eager to show my students all the wonderful opportunities that the arts can provide outside of the classroom. Something I've come to learn as a teacher is that not all stars are meant to be on stage. A lot of them are passionate to create theatre magic from behind the curtain!

Tech theatre is where the magic happens!

My students are the most creative with a brush and canvas in hand and in theatre a tool such as an iPad with a smart pen can open up so many doors for design and production opportunities! Texas is well known for its high school competitive theatre atmosphere and my kids wait anxiously to compete in One Act Play for UIL academics every year.

For my students, having access to an iPad in class would mean getting to produce an entire show from the tip of their hands! They could create a backdrop or costume design within minutes as well as produce and broadcast live sound with apps that provide high tech editing and streaming software. But most importantly it would allow them to connect to the outside world of theatre! By quite literally putting the world in their hands is how art continues to grow and nurture our minds.
