My Students
I teach full-day kindergarten in an Oklahoma school that values learning through the multiple intelligences. The students in my classroom come from a variety of social, academic, and economic backgrounds. In spite of our differences, we are building a classroom community that embraces each member as we grow and develop. It is important to me that children leave with a community that values their own growth and learning, while understanding that we are all better when we learn firsthand from others and their experiences as they impact our own.
My Project
Osmos provide a unique technology experience, because they allow children a way to build their knowledge in literacy and math as well as gain coding experience while using our classroom ipads.
The Osmo and Tiggly games will allow children to develop technology and social skills that transform them into 21st Century learners.
My students will use the Osmo and Tiggly games, along with our classroom iPads provided by our school district, each day during our Daily 5 literacy stations, math stations, and free choice center time. They will use the letters during Daily 5 to build their alphabet knowledge, spelling, and reading skills. They will use the numbers, tangrams, and coding activities during math stations to develop their instant recognition skills, and addition and subtraction skills. During free choice center time, the students can choose which activity they would like to use depending on what skills they are working on developing or are interested in. The awesome thing about Osmos is that they can do all of these things, all while working cooperatively with others and getting engaging, hands-on experiences. The headphone splitters will allow them the opportunity to share and take turns during these experiences.
