My Students

Reading is a fundamental skill and a joy we must impart to our children. The Nook is the latest technology that is interactive, multimedia, and engaging. It takes a nook to hook the book, and our students!

We are a New York City school and our students come from all over the world.

The richness of our many cultures, languages and traditions make us a wonderful school for both students and faculty. We are international while staying local, and many of our first generation Americans look to education for their success in the future. For that reason, we owe our students the very best that education can provide, and especially a 21st century education rich in the latest technology.

My Project

Books are so important in the way they contribute to our lives. These Nooks have the potential to access just about any book, and that access is so important. Imagine being able to download an entire library on two Nooks. What worlds await my students at the touch of a screen. The Nooks are multimedia, speak, run video clips, and can make literature come alive in ways that spark children’s imaginations. Nooks are a remarkable motivator and can even engage the most reluctant reader because of the multimedia dimensions of this incredible electronic tool.

We need to captivate our students by opening up the worlds literature has to offer.

What better way than to do this using Nooks with books? Books in different languages, books that are interactive, books that offer audio to help struggling readers, all these are possible using the Nook. We hope Donors Choose donators will agree. My students will be enchanted.
