This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a high-poverty area in Virginia; my school is small, with about 350 children enrolled. The children in my building are great kids; they thrive off positive motivation and are very intuitive when focused. We were named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2006.
Currently, I am a Second grade teacher; I love teaching Second grade simply because kids are fun to teach at this level.
They are enthusiastic, happy to be at school, work together well, and they are the perfect mixture of independence and neediness in behavior and attitude!
They make me WANT to come to work :-)
My Project
We've been in school less than two months and I have had to replace the tissues in my Toiletry Bar SIX times already-I'm not even exaggerating! All day, my kids are sneezing, sniffling, coughing up phlegm, and I am tired of it-I have got to do SOMETHING to alleviate their allergic reactions so I can get through my lessons peacefully...
I am requesting an industrial-grade air purifier to place in my classroom.
My room is very large so a simple device will not suffice. The Dyson air purifier I am requesting will cover a 500+ square foot room so it will definitely clean the air adequately and ease my kids' ailments, whether it is asthma, allergies, or bronchitis.
My request is quite simple but it will make a world of difference!
As an adult, sneezing and coughing all day causes MY day to be unbearable-can one imagine being a child who has to learn unfamiliar concepts while getting a headache from coughing profusely?
