“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” -Dr. Seuss. I am excited at the opportunity for my students to receive an informative and engaging subscription to Time For Kids!
We are a Title I school in Oregon.
As a school, we have a diverse community of learners. Our 2nd grade class is made up of students who come from a variety of backgrounds. Many students are in different places academically, but as a class we are all passionate about growing as readers, writers, and mathematicians.
My Project
A class set of clipboards will give students more freedom to choose where they would like to work. There are many times throughout our day when we come together on the carpet to share our work, strategies, and thoughts with one another. Having a clipboard for each student to write on during this time would be very helpful.
A year long subscription of Time For Kids for each of my 2nd grade students would encourage them to be informed about what is happening in the world around them. These high interest, informative articles support each student in their journey as a reader. The content of articles also foster valuable classroom discussions. I can just imagine the excitement in our class when students find out their latest issue has arrived!
If this project is fully funded, the collaboration that occurs within our class can be supported through the use of something as simple as a clipboard.
Students will also gain a deeper understanding of the world around them as they are engaged in 28 issues of TIME For Kids!
