My Project
Our special education classroom was gifted reading leveled readers. When our new books arrived the students were so excited. They picked book after book to read and as they grew in confidence and ability they started picking their favorites. I started to notice that some of the level readers started to go missing. I had books set aside that students could take home and keep, but told them the leveled readers in the special boxes should stay in the room.
We used them for classic reading, writing projects, making up expanded stories, and even created math word problems related to the stories from the books.
The students loved the books they and they would read them time after time. They read them in pairs, to the class, and even asked to read them to other classes.
The students truly loved the leveled readers and became even more excited as they advanced in their reading levels. The problem I faced was when I went to pack them up at the end of the year some of the books were missing. Please help by giving our classroom books to add to our collection. I am so excited to see what books they will pick as their favorites this year.
