My students need materials, such as Planting kits, Science Resource Book and Charts, Let's Make Paper Kit and a Contraptions Kit, in order to learn Science and Engineering.
I teach students with autism and multiple disabilities from 1st to 8th grade. I work with over 120 students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). Students are learning more than ever before by thinking, noticing, wondering, and figuring out with hands-on engagement and activities.
My students have autism and multiple disabilities, but we want to concentrate on all the amazing things they can do!
I want to create a classroom where learning has no limit! My students just need a chance to grow and learn like the plants in which they will be studying and growing this year. With a little bit of your help and support we can help them and watch them grow!
My goal is to inspire a love for all the areas of STEM, especially Science and Engineering with this project so that I may show my students the amazing wonders this world has to offer. All of my students are eager learners who are like little sponges; ready to absorb anything you give them. They love hands-on lessons!
My Project
I currently have in my classroom programs that correlate with reading and math for the students. The children learn best through hands-on engagement and experiences. Due to this, I want to give them all the materials they need to succeed in school and in life. This will happen through being engaged in the content being presented before them with the classroom. Content will go from just being in their imaginations and on a classroom board into their hands which will encourage more thought and the development of other skills needed to make STEM a part of their everyday lives. I requested items such as materials and kits for Engineering and Planting. Planting may not be something big to everyone but imagine never having the chance to plant a seed and watch it grow. That is an experience that I want to ensure my students have. It means so much to do these activities. These materials are essential for my students with disabilities to learn STEM like their non-disabled peers.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math are our future and I firmly believe that it all begins in elementary and middle school.
Students need the freedom to have creative thoughts and ideas, as well as the ability to test their ideas, and to problem solve to perfect their visions. My students need your help! I want my class excited to learn STEM. The best way to learn is hands-on. We would be able to take the concepts and experiments we find online and in books and bring them to life.
