Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach reading to extraordinary children that have proven that enough is not enough. I love working in our Title I school because despite my students’ struggles I get to see them learn. Every day is a new opportunity for them to grow, and to expose them to new things. I have tried to provide as much as technology possible, books and fun experiences to continue fulfilling their needs to learn. Today, I must reach out to them away from the classroom and continue to fulfill their social and academic needs. We will make the most out of this together.

If my students can’t come to our class, I’ll take our classroom to them.

My kids loved when I read to them but also loved when our PowerPoint had a digital read aloud because of the sound and animations. I want to continue to expose them to technology that allows them to travel the world through books and online learning.

My Project

A lot of my students’ learning in the classroom was done with the help of technology. I created interactive lessons for my students to engage easily. I used PowerPoint to create a lot of visuals and help my students make connections. Smart board and fun websites made learning fun. This happened even with the use of our classroom computer that had glitches and often needed processing time.

An Apple MacBook would help me continue to deliver to my students fun activities without connectivity issues.

At this time I cannot provide lessons online without interruptions and restarting programs. I want to provide live lessons that will make my students feel happy and successful with their learning.

The distant learning program we are using its not easy for my students to connect with me. Some of our students don’t have access to a computer or other technology. I would like to use the Apple MacBook to help my students learning using FaceTime. It could also just be to say “Hi Ms. Teran, I miss you”. I want them to feel connected.
