Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my classroom are students from multiple districts around Central Texas. They are all pursing careers in the healthcare field. Most of them are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
A great deal of them are from lower socioeconomic status families, and appreciate the opportunity that has been given to them through this program.
I am looking to provide them with amazing learning experiences, whether through a book or hands-on!
Let's close the achievement gap of students that do not have the necessary materials to succeed!
My Project
I have some of the most innovative and creative students in my class and technology is a HUGE part of their daily lives.
Most of them come from low-income or single parent households.
These are the things that prevent them from stepping up ahead in life and experience what we see as normal. I always focus on their potential and growth while they are in my class. I may not be able to control their lives outside of school but I can definitely control how the experience school.
These calculators will assist them in calculations as well as seeing trends in statistics the government uses to track health concerns around the world.
Calculator use in the classroom assists students with disabilities in performing accurate calculations and in improving their problem-solving skills.
In addition, students who had access to calculators had better attitudes toward math because they feel successful.
