This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher at a fabulous urban elementary school. Most of my students are English Language Learners from low socioeconomic backgrounds. One student is in a Special Education class but spends half of the day with us. They are all amazing children with a passion for learning and a strong desire to do better.
My students love Fridays. Not because the next day is Saturday but because of Fiesta Fridays. Every Friday we celebrate all of the hard work we have done in math by playing math games that reinforce what we have been working on. My students can't wait to play with their friends and try out their new skills. However, lately they have become bored with our old games. I have tried to be creative and make some new activities but I would really love to have some new engaging materials that grab their attention.
The math materials I am requesting will do just that. The math games have spinners and manipulatives that the students will get really excited about. They will love using the pocket chart independently and with their classmates. I will also be able to use the materials with small groups of students who are struggling with various concepts.
These materials will bring Fiesta Friday to a whole new level! The students already love Fridays so I know that they will be even more enthusiastic about learning with these new math materials. Your contribution will make it possible for my students to enjoy math and develop a love of learning. I thank you in advance for supporting my classroom and public schools. My students and I truly appreciate your commitment to education for all.
