My Project
My students are 21st-century learners. They have technology at the tip of their fingers. Pretty much everything they do is technology-based and as we move fully into that space we don't have all the things we need. The technology at the school is outdated and has many blocks that prevent access to some academic applications. An i-pad will allow us to easily access the digital curriculum and make learning fun until our devices are updated or replaced.
My students are children with varying special needs.
Their needs vary from other health impairments as specified by ADHD, ADD; Speech and Language Impairment; Autism; Intellectual Disabilities, and Learning impaired. I work with my students in small groups up to a max of 8 to improve reading and math goals because they work better and receive more support in a smaller group.
In my classroom, learning takes place in a fun and exciting way as described by my students. Students feel more confident when pulled out for small group support. They let their guard down and are open to making mistakes and receiving constructive criticism without a large audience. They often leave saying, that was much easier than I thought. In the right setting with the right supports students can succeed.
An iPad will allow my students to use the digital version of our Tier 2 curriculum iSPIRE in the small group setting. Currently, we are using hybrid resources mostly of which are hard copy materials. We reuse old workbooks, readers, decodable readers, and flashcards.
The use of touch screen technology will allow our students to use resources that are not reused, specific to their needs, and allow them to access a greater amount of material in real-time.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
