ISO Supplies for Coping Boxes

My Project

Since the pandemic, many students have been struggling to regulate their emotions at school and home. During this school year, I’ve been supporting the social-emotional needs of students and have found that many students lack the ability to identify healthy coping skills, as well as implement tools to cope with big emotions. As most of you know, a coping skill can be identified as a method or intervention a person uses to cope with a stressful/uncomfortable situation. I am requesting mini notepads, stress balls, fidget toys and more. Some coping skills can mindful, while others can be activity-based or emotional-focused. A lot of my work with students this year has involved identifying, teaching, and practicing the utilization of a coping skill.

Since the school year is ending, and summer break is just around the corner, I wanted to give my students something that they can take home with them to remind them that they DO have the ability to regulate their emotions in stressful and difficult times.

I intend to do this by giving them the tools to make their own coping boxes.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them the supplies needed to self-regulate during difficult times, which will support more effective learning and behavioral choices. These boxes will be taken home by each participating student, and it will be theirs to keep! My hope is that as the years go by, these students will continue to add to their coping boxes, not only growing their coping tools but also mastering their abilities to manage and maintain control over their emotions.
