Islamic Geometry Stained Glass

My students need 24 drafting compasses in order to create art, namely islamic geometry stained glass!

My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds and attend a school that focuses on project-based learning. As such, they are accustomed to working on collaborative projects and taking deep dives into several areas of our curriculum, including literature and art.

My students are at a dynamic age; they inquisitively view the world through lenses that are both curious and magical.

As their teacher, I am constantly exploring new ways to keep them enthusiastically engaged in all that we do. They always bring a lot to the table and never cease to amaze me.

My Project

As part of our study of the Golden Age of Islam, students will learn about advances in geometry and stained glass art from the period. In particular, we will look at stained glass art of the Pink Mosque in Iran, as it has some of the most beautiful stained glass art in human history.

My student enjoy learning about other cultures, and through this art project they will replicate some of the geometric techniques used by Muslim artists that created stained glass in mosques.

In order to accomplish this, we are requesting a class set of Geo Student compasses. They are made in Germany, and constructed entirely out of metal (no plastic).
