Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students are incredibly smart, caring, and sweet despite the hardships they face. Over three-quarters of my students come from families who are under-resourced and economically disadvantaged. More than fifty percent of them are English Language Learners and they all receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Especially during these unprecedented times, I want to provide each student with an equitable learning experience and help them reach their highest learning potentials.
Despite all the obstacles they face, my little ones always come to class with a smile on their face and eager to learn.
It is my goal to give each student the encouragement and resources they need to succeed. Education is something that nobody can take away from you. If we instill these values in students early on, they will go far!
As a dedicated educator, I am determined to create a culturally responsive learning environment while sharing the benefits of culturally responsive computing.
My Project
All stakeholders in education are facing very unprecedented times. With the pandemic happening around the world, teachers and students face challenging times ahead. Making sure that my students receive a quality education from a distance is my goal. With new challenges ahead this school year, teachers will be teaching virtually. I am requesting an iPad that will be used as a virtual whiteboard and smartboard. Keeping kindergarten students virtually engaged for a long period of time is difficult.
Providing my students to learn with a virtual whiteboard that connects to my laptop will allow me to teach students the skills needed in order to learn to read and write.
The iPad will be primarily used as a whiteboard that is displayed on my computer screen which would work with Zoom or Google Meet. I will also be able to Multitask and show a PowerPoint while be connected to the class through Meet or Zoom. The iPad will also allow me to share my iPad screen simultaneously while teaching a live lesson. Digital books would also be downloaded in order to do class read alouds which are interactive.
