Help me give my students the ability to view chemistry simulations, models, data, diagrams, and math problems in real time whether they are at home or in the classroom!

My Students

My students are each unique as both their personalities and learning styles. While some of them are quite, auditory learners, others are boisterous, visual learners. When they enter my classroom, all of my students are engaged, inquisitive, and curious. Most importantly, though, all of my students are thoughtful, caring, and respectful.

My Project

This year my students have the option of returning to the classroom or continuing to learn remotely. No matter where students are learning from, they will all be learning synchronously with one another. I cannot rely on writing on the white board in class as my webcam will not be able to clearly show the writing due to it's position in the room.

Chemistry requires the use of visuals to help students conceptualize the microscopic.

To give all students the experience of being able to "see" what I am teaching, I would love an iPad to draw examples, diagrams, models, and math problems on a screen that could be viewed in real time with students both inside my classroom and at home.

An iPad would help me to teach chemistry at the microscopic, macroscopic, and symbolic levels. One specific lesson in which an iPad would support the various levels of understanding chemistry is about limiting reactants. In this lesson the iPad and accessories a would be used:

1. To show a 3D simulation of how chemical reactions occur at the microscopic level so that students can visually see which molecules are consumed and remain.

2. To write chemical symbols, formulas, and equations necessary to explain the chemical processes on the symbolic level.

3. To solve stoichiometry problems necessary to calculate the amounts of reactants needed based upon desired product(s) amounts so that experiments can be carried out in class to view the reaction at the macroscopic level. The Apple Pencil would allow me to write these symbols more clearly and broadcast

In summary, an iPad would allow me to deepen my students' understanding of chemistry at the macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic levels whether they are in my classroom or synchronously working from home.
