Because of your generosity, my students have been able to engage in a hands-on, real-world chemistry investigation that brought abstract concepts to life in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the mug warmers as part of a percent error and heat transfer lab. Students designed and conducted an experiment to test how accurately different mug warmers maintain a target temperature over time. They collected temperature data at regular intervals, graphed their results, and calculated percent error, efficiency, and consistency. One standout moment was when a group realized their data was inconsistent and began troubleshooting their experimental design—adjusting variables, discussing sources of error, and rerunning trials. It was a powerful example of students thinking and acting like real scientists rather than just following a procedure.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were genuinely excited and curious. Many immediately made connections to their own lives, mentioning family members who use mug warmers at home or asking how these devices actually work. There was a noticeable shift in engagement—students were more eager to participate, ask questions, and take ownership of their learning because the lab felt relevant and tangible.\r\n\r\nBeyond this investigation, the mug warmers are continuing to support our classroom in multiple ways. We are beginning to use them as a safer alternative to hot plates for heating small volumes of water in upcoming labs, which improves both safety and accessibility. Students will also build on this experience by designing their own experiments related to energy transfer and efficiency, applying what they learned to new scenarios and refining their scientific reasoning skills.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, these materials have contributed to a warmer, more supportive classroom environment—both literally and figuratively. Being able to keep a drink warm during long class periods has been a small but meaningful comfort for students, helping them stay focused and feel cared for.\r\n\r\nYour support has allowed my students to experience science as something real, relevant, and engaging. Thank you for helping create a classroom where both learning and student well-being are valued.","fullyFundedDate":1769359818497,"projectUrl":"project/chemistry-comfort-ipad-and-warm-drink/10051412/","projectTitle":"Chemistry & Comfort: iPad and Warm Drinks for Hands-On Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6077170_orig.jpg?crop=656,656,x436,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657478165168","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6077170"},{"teacherId":6077170,"projectId":9901705,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our Gaming Club is officially up and running and the impact has already gone far beyond what we imagined.\r\n\r\nWhile many of our donors may think of gaming as something students simply do at home for fun, bringing the Nintendo Switch 2 into our school setting has turned it into a powerful learning and community-building tool. In our classroom, gaming is about collaboration, strategy, communication, and sportsmanship. Students work in teams to problem-solve, develop game plans, and reflect on what worked (and what didn't). They practice critical thinking, perseverance, and respectful competition. We've even incorporated elements of digital citizenship, discussing appropriate communication, handling wins and losses gracefully, and encouraging one another.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for students is the opportunity to participate in structured tournaments and schoolwide events. The idea that they can represent their class, work as a team, and compete in a positive environment has created incredible energy. Students who don't typically join sports teams or traditional clubs now have something they feel confident and proud being part of. The buzz leading up to tournament days is contagious!\r\n\r\nSome of the most meaningful moments have come from students who usually stay on the sidelines. I've seen quieter students step into leadership roles including organizing brackets, coaching teammates, and helping others learn game mechanics. One student who rarely participates in large group activities has become one of our most supportive teammates, offering strategy tips and cheering others on. Another student who struggles socially has found common ground with peers through shared gaming interests, building friendships that now extend beyond club meetings.\r\n\r\nThis project has done exactly what we hoped: it has brought students together. It has created a space where more kids feel seen, included, and valued. Your support helped us build community, confidence, and connection among our students. We are so grateful for the opportunity you've given them.","fullyFundedDate":1763499054146,"projectUrl":"project/switch-on-student-competition/9901705/","projectTitle":"\"Switch\" on Student Competition","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6077170_orig.jpg?crop=656,656,x436,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657478165168","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6077170"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75452","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1018,"numTeachers":71,"percentFrplEligible":8,"percentAsian":36,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":62.7,"schoolId":75452,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Robbinsville High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Robbinsville High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/robbinsville-schools/robbinsville-high-school/75452"}
