My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. One-third of our students come from outside of our district. The parents of these students are looking for a better educational environment for their children. Because of this high number of students from out of the district, we have both a high transient population and a high poverty rate.
In spite of these challenges, we have a great group of students who are very curious about the world around them.
We have both seventh and eighth-grade students with a total school population close to 500 students. Our students have the opportunities to participate in a variety of different classes, sports, and clubs. We strive to give our students a well-rounded education.
My Project
Over the past several years, the emphasis in our school has been on math and language arts. Because of a change in philosophy and focus, we are shifting to include a heavier focus on science. In order to do this, we are in need of supplies to help beef up our curriculum while keeping the students engaged in their learning.
When children design and test their creations, their problem-solving abilities soar!
Middle school students need high-interest experiences to remain engaged. As part of our new curriculum, we will be focusing on engineering and design. The kits we are requesting will help students learn about various truss design and then the students will design their own bridge to construct and test. These kits will provide the students with the supplies they need to bring their creations to life.
