Help me give my students flexible seating options during their independent reading time, calming down and refocusing time when feeling overwhelmed (SEL).
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The flexible seating supplies I am requesting are for an amazing group of 24 students in a dual language program. They are a cohort that have been together since Kindergarten. They are hard working, inquisitive and most importantly love to learn. They enjoy reading, working in groups, and love art projects. When reading independently I more than often have students requesting to sit somewhere other than at their desk. There are a group of students in this cohort that need movement throughout the day and need to sit away from others in order to focus during their reading. I also have some students who are continuously working on their Social emotional skills and need a space to regather their thoughts, calm down or simply take some quiet time but usually have to do this at their desks.
The collapsible stools will give my students a flexible seating option for when they read indepently and prefer to be away from others in order to focus, and need some calming down or reflection time somewhere other than at their desks.
We already have some stools but with limited space in the classroom, these collapsible stools would work perfectly in our classroom. They will be easily accessible so that students can grab one and choose anywhere to sit in the room without having to interrupt others' learning or drawing more attention towards themselves.
