This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a digital literacy and computer science teacher, I'm always seeking ways to spark curiosity, creativity, and real-world connections in my students.

This collection of books will help me introduce complex topics—like artificial intelligence, data, coding, and media literacy—in a way that’s engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate.

From exciting fiction like Hex Allen and AI... Meets... AI to powerful biographies such as Classified: The Secret Career of Mary Golda Ross and Instructions Not Included, these stories feature diverse role models and relatable characters that will inspire students of all backgrounds to see themselves in STEM and computer science careers.

Books like Daphne Draws Data and Exploring Data with Zee help young learners understand data through storytelling, while Leena Mo, CEO encourages entrepreneurship and leadership. Titles like Two Truths and a Lie, Aliens Are Coming!, and The Nantucket Sea Monster will help us explore media literacy and critical thinking in an exciting and engaging way.

I’m also including a few social-emotional and growth mindset books like Thanks for the Feedback... (I Think?) to support student confidence and communication skills—crucial for collaboration in any CS or STEM learning.

These books will serve as mentor texts during read-alouds, research projects, and cross-curricular lessons that weave together reading, writing, science, and technology. With your help, I can continue creating a learning environment where students not only learn how technology works, but also imagine themselves shaping its future.
