This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students in Crafts and Ceramics 1 and 2 create a variety of crafts including units on fiber arts and ceramics. In the clay unit, a lot of times the clay needs to be leather hard before you can attach one piece to another leading to more drying time and more waiting without working. Having a class set of blow dryers to help speed up the process would be extra handy with moving along the flow of clay topics learned. Students in my classes also partake in a fiber arts unit where they first dye fabric, bleach off a design and then wash it out before sewing it together to make a pillow. They then would have to wait for the fabric to dry before ironing it. We currently have only have one class iron.
Having a class set of blow dryers and a few irons would allow for my students to finish their art created in my class sooner with less wait time.
