"There's an app for that!" Simply put there are thousands upon thousands of tech-educational opportunities and adventures that are left uncharted...which means wasted opportunity for engagement, rigor and education.
For those who have met my class before, I want to speak out about the pleasure that I have to be moving up with my 2nd grade scholars into the 3rd grade.
I cannot wait for this upcoming year and know that they are ready to work harder than ever. Third grade will be huge for us in many respects such as ISAT state-wide testing, NWEA Map testing, and district-wide Interim Assessments. Wahoo! We're up for the challenge.
You, lovely donors, are contributing to the iPad project. I'm happy to share that I am already researching great interactive skill based drills, books, texts, magazines, and programs that directly align with scholars' academic rigor and excellence. Each morning, I will be teaching Reading Comprehension in a whole group setting and then to individual small groups. The iPad would aid in phonics work and review in the small group sessions and review key vocabulary words (SAT prep vocab) before the core lesson. It's imperative to share interactive methods to engage our learners' minds in developmentally appropriate practices. I'm excited to use this tool in math drills before the lesson and during hallway transitions (restroom wait time, after lunch before specials). Most importantly it would be most powerful when used in individualized custom-tailored interventions to support each student-centered educational need.
All in all there are so many wonderfully inspiring things that are happening in our classrooms all across the nation through the correct use of technology for this growing generation.
Can't wait to share all of our iAdventures!
