Chalkboards, pencil, paper, crayons. These are the materials that many of us used when we were first starting school. Computers and Smartboards are the what we use now. IPods are the way to reach our kids in the future. Our materials must change with the times!
The students in my class come from all different walks of life.
We have students who have attended preschools and those who haven't. We have students that come into kindergarten reading and those who don't even know how to hold a pencil and write even the first letter of their name.
Children should not be penalized for our world's economy. Technology is the way of the future. We should bring technology that is available in our community today to the classroom. IPods are great for these remedial interventions and students think that it is COOL to be "playing on the IPOD" in class! It is a FUN way for students to LEARN and not realize that they are learning!!! All kids use these kinds of technology, so let's open the doors of our classrooms!
My Project
Just one iPod will be another way in which I can help my children learn. I would download APPS that are appropriate for my kindergarten students' learning levels, because all students are on different developmental levels. The students will be able to use the iPod individually to work on what is specific to THEM! Students would also be able to use the iPod during our intervention time each day, where APPS can be chosen specifically for them to remediate past skills.
My students need this iPod to further enhance their learning in all areas of math, language arts and handwriting.
I want my students to know what kinds of technology are in our world today and be able to use it for their learning.
